For the Deep Thinkers & Doers
We’ve got the membership, the dedicated workspace, and the coffee. Now, it’s time to update that "About Me" page. PhotosByMurphy is popping up at Switchyards to provide fast, design-forward headshots for members who need to look professional without looking "corporate."
We’re utilizing the club’s unique textures and intentional lighting to give you a portrait that feels like it belongs in a magazine, not a office badge.
Location-Inspired: We’re using the Switchyards backdrop—warm lighting, library vibes, and mid-century aesthetics.
Low Friction: 15 minutes of your time. No need to leave the club.
Instant Delivery: Walk out of your session with your photos already on your phone.

👔 Preparation & Style
The Rule of Thumb: Wear something that makes you feel like your "boss" self.
Colors: Solid colors (blues, greens, earth tones, neutrals) work best.
Patterns: Avoid tiny, busy patterns (like pinstripes or small checkers) as they can look strange on digital screens.
Layers: A blazer, denim jacket, or cardigan is a great way to get two different "looks" in one short session.

The PhotosByMurphy Prep Guide
Everything you need to know to nail your 15-minute session.
Most people would rather go to the dentist than get a headshot. We get it. That’s why we’ve stripped away the stiff studio vibes and replaced them with a process that’s fast, fun, and high-impact. Here is how to prepare like a pro.
our outfit should tell the story of who you are on your best workday.
The "Vibe" Check: If you’re shooting at Switchyards, think "Modern Founder" (clean layers, nice knits). If we’re at Neon Cowboy, you can lean into "Elevated Edge" (denim, leather, or darker tones).
Solid Colors are King: Deep blues, forest greens, rich burgundies, and neutrals (black/grey/cream) always look expensive on camera.
Avoid the "Buzzy" Patterns: Tiny pinstripes or small checkers can create a "moiré effect" (a weird wavy distortion) on digital screens. When in doubt, go solid.
The Power of Layers: A blazer, a well-fitted cardigan, or a structured jacket allows you to get two "looks" in one session. Start with the jacket on, then take it off halfway through.
Fit Matters: Camera lenses are sensitive to fit. Avoid baggy clothes that can make you look "lost" in the fabric. Structured shoulders and tailored fits work best.
The camera sees what the eye misses.
Glasses: If you wear them every day, wear them for your shoot! If your lenses don't have an anti-reflective coating, don't worry—we’ll adjust the angles to minimize glare.
Hair & Makeup: Aim for a "polished version of your daily self." Now isn't the time to try a brand-new hairstyle.
Skin: If you have a last-minute blemish, leave it alone. It is much easier for us to edit out a small spot than to hide a patch of irritated skin or heavy concealer.
The "Lint" Factor: If you’re wearing dark colors, give yourself a quick once-over with a lint roller before you step in front of the lens.
"What do I do with my hands?" is the #1 question we get.
Trust the Coach: Murphy will guide you through every micro-adjustment. We focus on "active" posing—leaning slightly toward the camera to define the jawline and positioning your shoulders to look confident, not bulky.
The Expression: Don’t feel pressured to give a "megawatt" cheesy smile. We’ll aim for a variety: one approachable smile (teeth), one confident "smize" (eyes only), and one neutral professional look.
Posture: Think "tall." Imagine a string pulling the top of your head toward the ceiling. It sounds cliché, but it instantly improves how clothes sit on your frame.
Since we use Instant Delivery technology, your experience is different than a traditional shoot.
Check-In: Arrive 10 minutes early. Grab a coffee or a drink, check your hair in a mirror, and settle into the vibe of the venue.
The 15-Minute Sprint: We’ll move through 2–3 different "mini-locations" within the venue to give you variety in lighting and backdrops.
The Instant Review: Because your photos are delivered to your phone immediately, you can see what we’re capturing in real-time. If you want to try a different angle, we do it right then.
The Exit: You leave with your photos already in your pocket. No "waiting two weeks for a gallery link."
